PHC Rx — Diagnose. Prescribe. Treat.

Comparison

ArborNote alternative for the plant health care side.

ArborNote maps trees, builds proposals, and runs crews. It is built for the big commercial and residential tree services and it is good at inventory. What it does not do is the clinical work: diagnosis, product and rate, label check, prescription. If you are searching for an ArborNote alternative because PHC is the part that is still on paper, this is the honest version.

Short version

ArborNote will put every tree on the property on a map and turn that map into a proposal. It will not tell you what is wrong with tree 14, what to put in it, how much per inch, or whether the label allows it. PHC Rx starts where the map stops.

ArborNote

Tree care and landscape business software built around a GPS tree inventory. Map trees in the field from the mobile app, build branded proposals off the inventory, manage a CRM with multi-year contracts, run an estimator and crew calendar, push work orders with JSA forms and compliance checklists to a separate crew app, take payments, and sync to QuickBooks and HubSpot. Priced per user; third-party listings show an Essential plan and an Enterprise plan with a free trial.

Best for: a larger tree service or landscape maintenance company that sells off a property inventory, runs multi-year contracts, and wants the map at the center of the sale.

PHC Rx

Diagnosis, species-specific treatment, label check, and a prescription the client approves. It sits beside your scheduling tool rather than replacing it.

Best for: companies that sell plant health care and need the clinical record behind it.

Choose ArborNote if

  • You sell large commercial and HOA properties off a tree inventory and the map is the sales tool.
  • You run multi-year contracts and need the CRM to track renewals.
  • You want JSA forms and compliance checklists on every crew work order.
  • HubSpot and QuickBooks sync matter to the office.

Choose PHC Rx if

  • You sell plant health care and need the diagnosis, the rate per inch, and the label check documented, not just mapped.
  • The PHC tech decides treatments from experience and you want that on the record with a confidence number.
  • You already have an inventory or scheduling tool and want to add the clinical layer instead of replacing anything.
  • You want a price per company, not per user.

Where ArborNote is the right call

A company that manages 300 trees for an HOA needs every one of them on a map with a condition and a history, needs to turn that map into a proposal for the board, and needs the crew app to know which tree is which when the truck shows up. ArborNote is built for that, and the compliance checklists and JSA forms on the work order are the kind of thing a commercial client asks for. If the pain is the inventory and the proposal, that is where the money should go.

What it does not do, and why it matters for PHC

ArborNote's product pages describe mapping, proposals, CRM, estimating, scheduling, and the crew app. They do not describe diagnosis, treatment selection, rates, or label checks. So the inventory says tree 14 is a 22 inch red oak in fair condition, and the proposal says "PHC treatment, $396", and what goes in the tree is still whatever the tech remembers from the last one. Nothing checked whether the finding was borer or oak wilt, whether emamectin is labeled for it, or whether the tree was injected last spring.

That is the part PHC Rx runs: a weighted diagnosis with a confidence, a product off the label table, a rate per inch, and a label check before the client sees a price.

Running both

PHC Rx syncs two-way with Jobber and has a REST API with webhooks. Companies on ArborNote keep the inventory and proposals there and run the PHC trees through PHC Rx; the prescription number goes on the ArborNote line item and the clinical record lives on the tree in PHC Rx. A direct ArborNote sync is on the list; ask and it moves up.

FAQ

Questions arborists ask

Is PHC Rx a replacement for ArborNote?

Not for tree inventory, proposals, CRM, or crew scheduling. It replaces the notebook, the rate PDF, and the guesswork on the plant health care side. Companies that need both run both.

Does PHC Rx integrate with ArborNote?

Not directly today. It syncs two-way with Jobber and has a public REST API and webhooks. If an ArborNote sync matters to you, tell us; demand moves it up the list.

How does ArborNote pricing compare?

ArborNote is priced per user; third-party listings show $240 per user per month on the entry plan. PHC Rx is priced per company: $99 a month for one seat, $199 for up to five, month to month, with a 7-day trial. For a five-person PHC crew the difference is large.

ArborNote or Arborgold?

Both are business management systems with a tree inventory and PHC as a service line, and both leave the same gap on diagnosis, rates, and label compliance. The Arborgold and SingleOps comparisons are on their own pages.

Can I try PHC Rx while keeping ArborNote?

Yes. The 7-day trial does not touch your existing system. Run one property through the diagnosis and prescription flow and see whether the client approves faster.
